Garous Conference Concluding Statement: Understanding Capacities is Key to Sustainable Development

According to the Public Relations Office of the University of Kurdistan, after a series of scientific and specialized panels, the first National Conference on Garous Studies officially concluded. The conference, organized by the Kurdistan Studies Institute of the University of Kurdistan in collaboration with reputable national universities and executive bodies, marked its conclusion by outlining a bright vision for the region's future.

The statement, released by Dr. Bahram Nasrollahizadeh and Dr. Behzad Mafakheri, the conference secretaries, reads: "The Garous region, with its precious heritage of natural, human, cultural, and historical values, has unfortunately remained unknown even to its own inhabitants. Therefore, this conference was held with the aim of gaining a deeper understanding of this valuable gem of Kurdistan, to provide an opportunity for researchers, and to take a step toward preserving this great asset."

The concluding statement identifies the main objective of the scientific event as recognizing and documenting the capabilities of the Garous region as a human treasure, emphasizing that the future development of this region requires a precise understanding of its capacities on one hand and its challenges on the other.
The final section of the statement, highlighting the need for cooperation from officials and the empathy of the people to achieve the conference's goals, states: "Perhaps one cannot go back and create a beautiful beginning, but one can start now and create a beautiful ending."

The organizers expressed hope that the conference has provided a platform for expanding scientific research toward the sustainable development of the region and the empowerment of local communities.
