A synergy meeting was held at the University of Kurdistan, attended by representatives from 40 industrial companies and a group of provincial officials, with the aim of strengthening the university's engagement with the industrial sector and fostering joint research and technological collaborations.

University of Kurdistan Holds Synergy Meeting with Provincial Industrialists

According to the Public Relations Office of the University of Kurdistan, Dr. Adel Si-o-seh-mordeh, President of the university, highlighted the institution's distinguished academic standing among the nation's top universities and emphasized its readiness to collaborate on solving industrial challenges and developing joint research projects. He described the constructive interaction between academia and industry as a cornerstone of provincial development.

Dr. Bahman Bahramnezhad, the Vice President for Research, then elaborated on the university's strategic shift towards social responsibility, stressing the expansion of collaborations within the Quadruple Helix framework and outlining the university's capacities in this regard. He also explained the "Knowledge-Based Production Surge" law, which allocates tax credits for research and development (R&D) activities.

Subsequently, Mostafa Falehgari, the Director-General of Tax Affairs for the province, detailed the tax incentives and facilities available for corporate R&D activities. Mohammad Azim Malek, the Deputy Governor of Kurdistan, referred to the university-industry interaction as the "key to the province's progress" and underscored the necessity of strengthening this relationship to address developmental challenges.

In the latter part of the meeting, attendees proposed several initiatives, including establishing a mechanism for continuous communication, facilitating faculty and student exchanges with industrial units, and creating a joint R&D fund. Industrialists also emphasized the importance of greater student presence in industrial environments as an effective factor in training a specialized workforce.

The meeting was ultimately assessed as a significant step toward reinforcing the bond between the university and industry and laying the groundwork for future collaborations.
